Skiing Arizona - Phoenix Ski Resorts

In a desert state and a city where the temperature reaches 38 ° C on an average of 89 days per year in Arizona, could be a surprise that a ski on real snow, based on real mountains, just hours before the city of Phoenix.

Snow in Phoenix itself is extremely rare, the only city an average of five days per year when the temperature drops below zero, and since I started, the snow fell only seven times - the last being January 2001 (the first snowfall was22 years).

However, to the delight of skiers and snowboarders Phoenix, there are several ski resorts within a couple of hours drive, perfect for a day or weekend and is expected to meet 'snow lovers desire for lighter white.

Arizona Snowbowl is a San Francisco Peaks in the Coconino National Forest, just two hours from Phoenix. The ski area offers over 2,300 meters above sea level and 32 acres of scenic trails that cover 777 and the Arizona desert climate: the resort enjoys many sunny days of skiing.

Those who prefer quieter skiing, are available at the Flagstaff Nordic Center, located just seven miles north of Snowbowl. This area offers winter sports enthusiasts a wide network of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and sledding. Flagstaff hand, maintains healthy competition with a scene of races in various lengths throughout the winter for cross-country skiers.

The largest> Ski Resort in Arizona is Sunrise Park Resort, located in the White Mountains of Arizona McNary. Owned and operated by Monte Bianco Apache Tribe, including areas of eight ski lifts and over 13 miles of cross country studies.

And finally, if you Ski Valley ski resort in the southern Untied States, the direction of Mount Lemmon Ski. Although Tucson is more likely to evoke thoughts of sand instead of snow (better knownSeaside resorts are here) that is - just an hour from the sea there are skiing and snowboarding to be found. The area is small, with a drop of only 290, 3 lifts and a ski-able area of 200 hectares, but despite its location south of the place yet to make Manages open from December to April, and the view that in view of the area of Mount Lemmon is a popular ski resort.

Accommodation is in (almost) all these cities this winter in the form ofCabins, hotels and motels. Be careful though - people come here to party, instead of skiing so if you are looking for a wild time, a better solution would be to stay days in a hotel in Phoenix and just commute to the ski resorts.
